After the basic qualification in 1984, I started general surgical training in 1987 and training in orthopaedics in 1991 and became a consultant in 1996 and have been a specialist in my field, therefore, for almost 20 years. I am Honorary Professor of Biomechanics at Cardiff University and I am a Senior Lecturer in Cardiff University. I work closely with the Department of Bioscience in Cardiff University and am a joint grant holder on a number of high value, high profile grants involved in the investigation of the root causes of osteoarthritis.
