I graduated from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1980. After completing my initial training, I came to the UK in 1981 and completed further post-graduate training in various hospitals around the country. In 1990, I was appointed Clinical Lecturer at the University College Hospital, London. I completed my MD and was appointed Senior Registrar in 1992, again at University College Hospital. In 1996, I was appointed Consultant Chest Physician at Chase Farm Hospital, Barnet.
