I am a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon with a special interest in Paediatric Urology. I qualified from Leeds University in 1983 with a Distinction in Anatomy. After training in General Surgery in Leeds and in London at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, I became a tutor in Paediatric Surgery at the Leeds General Infirmary. I completed a higher degree for work investigating urothelial cell biology, whilst at the Cancer Research Institute at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds, and was awarded 1st prize for presenting my work at the Urological Research Society in January 1993, London. I completed my Paediatric Surgical training in Leeds and Manchester and undertook a Pediatric Urology Fellowship at the Clark-Morrison Children's Urological Center, Los Angeles, USA in 1996. I was appointed as a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) Cardiff in 1997
