Mr Ryan Trickett studied medicine in Cardiff and developed an interest in hand surgery during his junior surgical jobs, before completing higher orthopaedic training in South Wales, in all areas of orthopaedic surgery. In 2013, Mr Trickett was appointed to the advanced training post in hand surgery at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. This prestigious nationally appointed post covers all aspects of hand and wrist surgery, including both orthopaedic and plastic surgical techniques. Mr Trickett then completed an additional fellowship at the world renowned Pulvertaft Hand Centre, learning advanced techniques in wrist fracture treatment, reconstruction and joint replacement in the hand and wrist. He has also completed the British Diploma of Hand Surgery, being awarded the gold medal in 2017. Mr Trickett was appointed as a consultant hand and wrist surgeon in January 2015 at the University Hospital Wales, Cardiff. His practice is solely based around problems concerning the hand and wrist, as well as the elbow. He has a keen interest in research and has contributed to international publications, presentations and book chapters.
