I attended medical school in Newcastle upon Tyne and did my post-graduate orthopaedic training in the northern region. I did my post-accreditation orthopaedic experience in Adelaide, Australia in 1992. I was appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon with the NHS in 1993 at Dryburn Hospital, Durham.
