Alex Anderson was appointed as an NHS Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Rotherham General Hospital in 2007 after his training in the North Trent Region. Originally from Suffolk, Alex qualified from Newcastle University in 1996 and shortly afterwards returned to East Anglia and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where he undertook his basic surgical training and a highly sought after Fellowship in trauma surgery. He then moved to Sheffield in 2001 after being appointed a Specialist Registrar on to the North Trent Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training programme.In 2005 Alex continued to develop his main interest in knee surgery and sports trauma by doing Fellowships in knee arthroplasty at Harrogate Hospital and soft tissue and arthroscopic knee surgery at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. As a Consultant he continues to be actively involved in research, teaching and training junior doctors and future surgeons as faculty on national exam courses and arthroscopic workshops. Alex holds an honorary title as Senior Lecturer at Sheffield University.
