Ms Carmel Noonan is a specialist in treating patients with decreased vision, double vision and squint since 1998. Formerly a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at the Warrington and Halton Hospitals from 1998 to 2009, she now works at Aintree University Hospital providing a general ophthalmology service with a subspecialty in strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology. Ms Noonan trained in Dublin, Boston (at Harvard Medical School) and Liverpool. She treats on average 40 people per month (for cataract and strabismus surgery) in both the NHS and independent healthcare sectors. Ms Noonan conducts research into vision loss in stroke patients and has been invited to talk about her work around the UK. She is very involved in the national training of future ophthalmologists.
