Mr Bhatta has undertaken his ophthalmology training in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery rotation between 2007 and 2012 based at the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. Following his general ophthalmology training he has completed one year of advanced subspecialty training fellowship in Galucoma at the St. James's University Hospital, Leeds in 2013. Prior to his higher specialist training he has obtained a Masters degree (MS) in Ophthalmology from the University of Calcutta, India. He practices in contemporary methods of monitoring glaucoma patients through modern diagnostics. Since joining the department he has started the new service of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) treatment for glaucoma. His expertise is in micro-incision cataract surgery (especially in patients with co-existing glaucoma), SLT laser treatment and glaucoma surgery. He is the second consultant member of the team responsible for providing tertiary referral galucoma service in the East Yorkshire region. He has publications in international journals, has made presentations and regularly attends meetings and conferences at national and international levels to keep himself updated with the latest developments in his specialty.
