Originally from Egypt, I graduated from Alexandria University and completed my basic surgical training and two years of neurosurgical training in my home country. I joined the South West Neurosurgical Specialist Registrar rotation in 2000 where I spent 18 months at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth before continuing on to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. Whilst at Frenchay, I did my fellowship training in spinal surgery with Mr Ian Nelson, John Hutchison, and Ian Harding at the Orthopaedic Spinal Unit. My fellowship training in skull base surgery was with Professor R Ramsden, Mr S Saeed, A King, and S Rutherford at the Hope Hospital in Manchester.
