Dr Hassan was an undergraduate at Oxford and then Kings College London, qualifying in 1994. He trained in neurology locally in Leeds as well as at St George's Hospital London, where he spent three years on the PhD thesis on the genetics of cerebrovascular disease. Dr Hassan has been a consultant in Leeds since 2006 and sees a full spectrum of neurological conditions in his practice including common problems such as epilepsy, headache and movement disorders. He also has a subspecialty interest in stroke medicine and works on the acute stroke unit at Leeds General Infirmary as well as in outpatients. He is the Stroke Research Lead at the LGI and currently is involved in a number of research trials sponsored by major charitable funding bodies including the Stroke Association and British Heart Foundation. Dr Hassan has published extensively in stroke and neurology journals.
