Mr Tim Broadhead is a specialist in the treatment of general gynaecological problems, abnormal smears and gynaecological cancer. Apart from his general gynaecological and colposcopy practice, he is one of the subspecialty consultants in the Leeds Cancer Centre providing surgical treatment for gynaecological malignancy, where he has developed laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques to perform hysterectomies and remove ovarian cysts. Mr Broadhead qualified from Leeds University Medical School in 1989 and undertook all of his general training in obstetrics and gynaecology in and around Nottingham. During this time, he developed an interest in gynaecological cancer and successfully completed a DM thesis on targeted chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. Mr Broadhead subsequently returned to Leeds for a subspecialty training fellowship in gynaecological cancer surgery and has been a consultant gynaecologist and gynaecological oncologist at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds, since 2002. He is also a registered colposcopist with the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and is currently the Chairman of the Yorkshire Cancer Network Gynaecology Group.
