Mr Andrew Allman has been a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend since 1996. He qualified from the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1984. After junior house jobs in North Wales and senior house jobs in Rotherham, Wrexham and the Wirral, he joined the North West Thames Obstetrics & Gynaecology training scheme. During his training in London, he worked with Professor Philip Steer and completed three years research for his MD on the measurement of fetal head to cervix force during labour. This yielded a significant insight into the effects of child birth on the pelvic floor. After completing his research, he continued to work as a lecturer in obstetrics and gynaecology at Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School and the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, until moving back to Wales in 1996.
