Dr Asish Bassi is a medical gastroenterologist who specialises in treating patients with common gastrointestinal disorders. He trained in the leading units in Wales, London and Liverpool, before settling in his role as a consultant gastroenterologist at Whiston Hospital, where he has worked since 2005. He has been responsible for devising local pathways for early diagnosis in patients with suspected upper or lower GI cancer. Dr Bassi provides the gastro lead for lower GI services and is a member of the colorectal cancer multidisciplinary team. He has introduced a number of novel endoscopic techniques in his local trust. Dr Bassi is an accredited trainer for endoscopy and enjoys his role as a college tutor. He continues to keep up with his research interest in pharmaco-economics.
