I am a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon, running a specialised practice in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the shoulder. All of the appropriate skills and facilities are available at my clinic allowing diagnostic arthroscopy, arthroscopic procedures, joint replacement and fracture fixation. Following my medical training in LondonI trained in general surgery in Bristol and obtained my FRCS in 1994 in London. I then specialised in orthopaedic surgery, training on the Oxford regional training programme, obtaining the specialist orthopaedic exam (FRCS Tr and Orth) in 1999 and obtaining my certificate of completion of training in 2001. During my training I have completed clinical fellowships in shoulder surgery in Oxford as well as orthopaedic trauma and post trauma reconstruction surgery at the prestigious Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, Canada. I am now the senior consultant shoulder surgeon at the University Hospitals Southampton, NHS trust, having been in the department for the last 17 years Throughout my time as as consultant I have been involved in training 'tomorrows doctors' in orthopaedics and have sat on local and national committees responsible for training. I was vice chair of the SAC (Specialist advisory Committee) for National Training and helped devise the system currently used for National Selection of higher trainees. I contributed to the current national curriculum used for training orthopaedic doctors. I continue to examine for the Intercollegiate board of the Royal College of Surgeons at FRCS (trauma and Orth) level, the exit exam before becoming a consultant. Over the last 17 years as a consultant I have specialised in disorders of the shoulder, developing a national reputation and continue to teach on arthroscopic shoulder surgery. I have been responsible for the training of a number of senior fellows who have gone on to secure NHS consultant posts in shoulder surgery. I have published several papers on disorders of the shoulder and elbow and orthopaedic trauma in peer reviewed journals and have written a number of book chapters in: The Oxford Textbook of Orthopaedics and Trauma, Medicolegal Reporting in Orthopaedic Trauma.
