Dr Calum Lyon graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1991 and trained in dermatology in Salford Royal Hospital, Manchester. He undertook extended training in dermatological surgery and in contact allergy and prick testing. Dr Lyon was appointed consultant dermatologist in York in 2001, developing a special interest in skin lesions including cancer, skin surgery, and stoma dermatology. He also works in the University of Manchester's dermatology department in Salford Royal one day per month in a specialist dermatology clinic associated with inflammatory bowel disease and stomas. Dr Lyon is an honorary clinical lecturer in York and Manchester and teaches medical students and junior doctors. He lectures nationally and internationally on skin conditions affecting stomas.
